Kasbah Asmaa Palais Asmaa

I really enjoyed my stay. If you’re interested in traditional Moroccan architecture, this is a good choice in Zagora. The four-star hotel is huge, with traditional walls, decorations, pictures, and paintwork, plus genuine carved wooden furniture in the rooms. Outside, there’s a large, clean pool surrounded by a kind of palm forest. Birds are singing everywhere, and every corner is pleasant to spend time in. The rooms have what you need, breakfast is traditional, the place is clean throughout, and the staff are nice. I’m not looking for luxury, and this isn’t the place for someone expecting a very luxurious stay. It’s traditional at its best. There’s plenty to see and enjoy nearby, enough to fill days without getting bored. It really represents Moroccan culture.

The decor is very retro, which is why I’m giving it three stars, but the place needs renovation. The staff were friendly enough, though most didn’t speak English or Spanish. Both the dinner and breakfast buffets were really poor. It was clean enough, but there was no trash bin in the bathroom. The Wi-Fi in the bedrooms is awful.

This was unfortunately the worst hotel of our tour with Monarch. It was meant to be a four-star hotel, but it seemed like it had only been opened for us after a long closure, with no upkeep.

Waking up among the huge palms with birds chirping all around felt like a scene from a Thousand and One Nights fairy tale. The staff were polite and efficient, the rooms lovely with great views, and the food was lovely too. You can really get a feel here for the magic of Nomades and Sahara traditions. I highly recommend it!
