This is a basic camp, so don’t expect a full shower or a flushing toilet. The shower is with a ladle, but the men here do everything they can to make guests comfortable, and the focus is on the experience. Abdul and Ismail were great with us, and supper was amazing. The tents are spacious but hot, so we left the door open overnight and didn’t have any critters visit. They hardly ever come near the camp. The desert walk is very hot and taxing, with little shade, so I’d only suggest doing it if you’re very fit. It’s definitely something to put on your Morocco to-do list.

Said, Abdul Hak, and the team gave us a warm welcome when we arrived spontaneously by car for a night. We skipped the usual tourist camel trip and took a walk by ourselves, which was lovely, with great Atlas Mountain views. The camp is close to two main roads and other camps, though, and the desert is rather dirty with litter and more rubble than sand dunes. It’s a decent first desert experience, especially for people who haven’t visited one before, with Berber songs around the fire. Still, it wasn’t as romantic or authentic as we expected. The kind, service-minded team is clearly making an effort to give visitors a somewhat touristic impression of Berber life.

A relaxing atmosphere, attentive people, and a nice camel made the stay lovely. The tent was big, clean, and had a bathroom, and the food was excellent. Zagora luxury desert camp is highly recommendable, bravo!

Spending a night in the desert here felt magical. It’s a beautiful place, and Abdul was a very kind host who treated us wonderfully.

We had a lot of fun, and both dinner and breakfast were great. Abdou’s service was excellent: he was attentive, hands-on, and extremely courteous. We definitely recommend it.
