Boutique Hôtel Miramar

I couldn’t stay at the hotel because I’d made a mistake with my booking, but the staff were so exceptional that I still wanted to write a review. Alicia especially went out of her way to help me sort things out, with real kindness and professionalism. The team was friendly and accommodating, and the property looked clean, modern, and welcoming. It’s in a peaceful, elegant spot in Monaco, close to everything. I’m looking forward to staying there properly in the future.

The service at Miramar was disgraceful, and I won’t go back or recommend it. When I first arrived for lunch, I asked for an Aperol Spritz, but the waitress said they didn’t have it because they only make cocktails. I accepted that, then watched her serve an Aperol to another couple. When I asked why I hadn’t been offered one, she denied saying it earlier, which made the situation awkward and awful. My husband’s and my cocktails were terrible and barely had any alcohol. The food was so basic I could have made it at home. The staff were rude and mocking. The waitress kept making faces and laughing, as if she was making fun of us or thought we couldn’t afford to be there. If I sat down to eat and drink, it’s because I can pay for it. A horrible experience.

The rooftop bar does breakfast, and its staff were really good. The hotel is in a great location. There’s no lift, so you have to carry your luggage up the stairs. The rooms are tiny with almost no storage, though there’s a small fridge and a safe. There isn’t space for extras like an iron or small coffee machine. We didn’t include breakfast and asked the staff about nearby options because the breakfast room looked small and tired. They suggested places near the casino but didn’t mention their own rooftop bar, which offers croissants, juice, and coffee. The shower temperature kept changing, and the hotel felt very expensive for what you get. You’re clearly paying for the location, but next time I’d choose somewhere farther away or in another town since the train is easy to use. The booking.com communication channel was hacked and sent me a fraudulent payment link. I wasn’t paying full attention and did pay. The hotel staff were quick to say booking.com had been hacked, not the hotel. A larger company can take hours to understand what happened, yet reception knew within minutes, which seemed odd. booking.com also wasn’t available to give a proper comment. I know I fell for it, but I expected some support.

The staff were wonderful and really helpful to my uncle and me. Just be aware there’s no lift to the upper floors.
