Maxim Pasha Hotel

The hotel has a cool look, but the room was miserable in the daytime because the AC didn’t work properly. We arrived late after nine hours of travel through Ukrainian checkpoints, exhausted and needing sleep. The AC button had been ripped off. They said someone would fix it the next day, and while we were out somebody managed to switch the unit on, but the button was still missing. I think they took it from another unit, turned ours on, then put it back. It barely cooled anything until sunset, and I woke up sweating every day. Coffee, water, and everything else cost extra, though at least the coffee was good. There’s also a chair, like a one-person couch, facing the toilet. Is it for watching other people pee? Just curious. It’s a shame, because the place could be awesome with some work. I can’t rate a room above two stars when it’s so uncomfortable during the sunny hours.

The pool was nice, but the changing room had no hot water. Weekend entry was 300/d for adults and 100/d for kids under 10. I was told that if it got crowded, my kid would have to give up the lounger, which seemed very strange.

I like this place. It’s good for a work trip, and I rested and slept very well. The swimming pool is good too, big, and there’s no hot water.

The hotel pool costs extra, € 10 an hour, and even a second coffee with the poor breakfast comes at an extra charge. The brochure advertises a free airport transfer, but there isn’t one. A taxi costs about 3 € :-) It’s the feeling of being ripped off that bothers me on principle. On the plus side, the location is central, the hotel is clean, and the staff are friendly.
