The bed was comfortable and we got a great greeting when we arrived, but nobody mentioned that the restaurant was closed. Presumably the spa was too, and we didn’t feel we got value for money. There wasn’t any information about the facilities that we could find. The room swung between ridiculously hot and cold, with no way to control the temperature, and there was a nasty smell from the bathroom. The TV was overcomplicated. At least we had our Netflix account.

I was surprised by how pristine the hotel was, the best Mercure standard. I stayed three nights on a holiday that started in Bucharest. Breakfast was excellent, well stocked, just perfect. A special mention for Daniela / Danielle at the front desk. She was so pleasant and helpful, full of great information, and clearly delighted whenever guests came to her for help. Very.

There’s a decent gym, a tiny Russian sauna, and a room set aside just for yoga. The hotel also has several conference rooms and five parking spaces, at €20 a night. I was surprised that the drinks and crisps in the room cost extra, including soft drinks and spirits. You pay for them at the desk when you check out, so they aren’t complimentary. The lobby is lovely, with a basic bar that has a limited spirits selection. Rooms are spacious, with decent views and lovely showers, and the reception looks good. The staff were lovely too. Miss Gabriela and Nicoleta at reception gave outstanding service. It’s a great four star hotel in the heart of the capital. Apparently it was refurbished recently, and it looks gorgeous.

Everything was great, especially the food and the staff, who were so positive and kind. This is the best hotel I’ve stayed in so far.
