Richmond Hotel

The rooms are spacious, and the hotel is neat and clean. I wasn't keen on the poor soundproofing, though. My room on the first floor facing the road was very noisy, with street sounds and children from the school opposite coming through. There's no iron in the room either, just one in a separate room.

The rooms are a little smaller than in other hotels I've stayed at, but perfectly adequate. I had a single with a double bed, while my mate paid very little extra for a larger double. Housekeeping was superb, and the staff were excellent. The Richmond hotel is stylish, modern, clean and tidy, with great value, a top quality breakfast, free wifi and RJ45 connections in every room. I visited over Easter. Moldova is an Orthodox country, but easy going. Staff told us only breakfast would be available and everywhere would be closed on Easter Sunday, but that wasn't so. Plenty of places were open, including the local supermarket. We had a superb evening meal and drinks at the Radisson, then went to the pub in the Bristol hotel across the road. A couple of things could be better. The polished marble shower tiles get dangerously slippery when wet, especially for old people like me, for whom a fall could be fatal. It needs a handrail and non-slip flooring. Also, there's no sink plug, just a perforated dome drain. Luckily, the disc-shaped soap sealed it when I put it over the drain. There are no USB sockets for charging phones and such, so take an adaptor.

A very nice hotel, and Adrian gave exceptionally good service in the restaurant. He was accurate and professional, much appreciated. Thank you.

We booked several rooms at Richmond Hotel in Chișinău. One had a serious ant infestation during our stay. We got no prompt help or even an apology, and there was no compensation or proper fix. Instead, staff tried to blame us, saying the ants were there because we had food in the room. The front desk receptionist wouldn't listen to our feedback or help. When we asked to speak with a supervisor or manager, staff blocked us and said “he will contact you,” but that never happened during our stay. The customer service was extremely poor and disappointing, far below what you'd expect from a hotel of this level. The receptionist remained unresponsive throughout.
