When I came back for a week starting March 15, I found the hostel clean, quiet and well cared for, with genuinely hospitable people. Two years before that, I had booked a bed at Tapok Hostel for a one-week holiday, but Moldova declared a state of emergency because of the Ukrainian War, so I had to cancel. They returned everything I’d paid without a penalty, and I wanted to repay that kindness. Thanks again for hosting me. I’d recommend it to friends visiting as tourists. The hostel is down the street from the Turkish Embassy. One complication: since 2024 they haven’t accepted online reservations, and I had a hard time explaining to the passport officer at customs that I wasn’t a refugee :)
