We stayed at four different hotels during our two weeks in the area, and Amfora offered the poorest value for money of them. Maybe a three-star rating is a bit harsh, and these issues wouldn’t ruin a stay, but together they felt like too much for a four-star hotel when we’d had better places for similar prices. The positives first: there’s a lovely location, a small private beach, and a beautiful view. The restaurant is really good, although we never got to try the fresh fish on the menu. The sauna is a nice extra, and most of the staff are pleasant, especially one waitress. A lot of the smaller problems add up. The rooms need refreshing: wallpaper is coming off, sockets are loose, and the bathroom fan is horribly noisy but doesn’t work well. There’s no soundproofing, so you hear everyone on the loud stairs and in the lobby. A desk alarm beeps every five seconds, day and night, and apparently can’t be switched off. We could hear it in our room. There’s very little parking, and parking on the street isn’t an option. Some waiters also paid almost no attention to us. I don’t expect stiff, formal service, and I know people can have bad days, even with annoying customers. I don’t mind staff using their phones sometimes, or chatting, but some never looked over even when we were the only customers there. After waiting for someone to notice us, we left several times without ordering dessert, coffee, or anything else. From the mountain-view rooms, the road is also quite audible.

We were welcomed with drinks when we arrived. I mentioned to Jelena at reception that it was my birthday, and later, at dinner in the hotel restaurant, she arranged a surprise with the other staff. They brought dessert with a candle and wished me a happy birthday in Spanish. The staff and service were the highlight, but the hotel, location, and food were wonderful too. Thank you Peter, Jelena, Vladimir, Maria and Dushan for everything. We’ll definitely come back! :)

We’d love to return because the location and staff were so good. It’s in a quiet area, the view is amazing, and it was a great place to relax. Irina, Jelena and Stefan took such good care of us. The rooms, though, are really worn out, and several things don’t work. For somewhere advertised as a four-star boutique hotel, it feels more like a one-star hotel or even a hostel. At over 300-400 euros a night, I expected better, more luxurious quality.

The family room with a sea view was spacious and renovated, and breakfast was very good. There’s a small private beach, and the place and its views are beautiful. The only drawback for us was the lack of an elevator. We had an excellent stay.

A magical setting for an amazing hotel. The service was exceptional, easily 5+ stars. Everyone was welcoming and polite, and they couldn’t do enough for us, especially Irina, who went above and beyond to make our stay special. We’d love to return. Thanks for a fabulous visit.
