Andasibe Lemurs Lodge

There’s only one road through the village to the lodge, and on Saturdays it becomes a market. Getting a 4x4 through that narrow, crowded street is quite an adventure. The lodge itself is lovely, with good food and fairly spacious, comfortable rooms. The shower was good too. We couldn’t have asked for more.

We enjoyed our three nights here. The property is quiet and well maintained, with spacious rooms, three single beds and one double, and electricity and hot water available all the time. The pool is lovely, though a bit cold for me 🥶. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the staff were very friendly. You can pay by card, with a 3% surcharge. There aren’t lemurs on the property, but you can see them in nearby national parks. A guide costs around 60,000 Ariary for three hours. We drove 15 minutes to a park, but wouldn’t recommend it since we only saw a few lemurs high in the trees. Next time we’d go farther. Car rides are generally quite expensive, even for short trips. It gets cold at night and in the morning, so bring warm clothes. The area is very quiet, and more than three nights might feel like too long.

The hotel sits in the jungle in a pleasant setting. There’s no signal here, but they do have Starlink Wi-Fi. The rooms are nice and clean, and there’s a swimming pool on site.

Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the staff were polite and helpful. It was handy being close to local shops for anything I needed. My bungalow was spacious and well maintained, with a clean bathroom and toilet. During my sunny visit, the solar-powered hot water was a welcome feature. Lemurs' Lodge isn’t a luxury resort, but it’s a comfortable and enjoyable base for exploring Andasibe and the forests around it.
