Eden Lodge

Swimming outside our room each morning and spotting turtles was one of the highlights of our stay at Eden Lodge. We visited at the beginning of April with our children, aged 7 and 9, and were blown away by the place. Baobab beach caught our eye as soon as we arrived, and at reception I had one of the best mocktails I've ever tasted. The rooms were amazing, and there were lots of activities to choose from. My favorite was the fishing trip with local fishermen, which I'd recommend. It really felt like heaven on earth.

The price is high, but I came away with memories for a lifetime. The food was good, though the menu is inevitably limited, and there was fresh fish from the sea every day. The staff were lovely. We shared a pristine Indian Ocean beach with seven other guests and a fishing village, staying in an eco lodge about 50 metres from the water. It’s glamping, so don’t come expecting a party scene. If you need a hair dryer, they may have to start the generator. We snorkeled with turtles, kayaked through mangroves, and heard lemurs chattering on the roof as we fell asleep to the waves. Their motor boat also took us out to swim among thriving coral.

The whole team are the people who keep this little piece of “lost paradise” so beautifully cared for and run. I was struck by how well the lodge combines full eco-sustainability with a natural, harmonious relationship with local people. This isn’t really a place for tourists looking for the usual trip, they’d be better off in Nosy Be. It’s somewhere for curious, respectful travelers to experience a truly wonderful place.

We took two excursions on the hotel's boat, and had an amazing stay at this lovely eco beach resort. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very well maintained, and housekeeping was excellent. The staff were great too. I highly recommend this lodge.
