San Cristobal Boutique Hotel

For 500,000 ar a night, I expected a lot more from the Family Room. The staff were fantastic, friendly, and very helpful. The clean room had nice floors, a comfortable mattress, and a balcony with a table and two chairs. The large master bathroom had a good mirror, bathtub, shower, hot water, and decent pressure. There were also desks, TVs, cabinets, a luggage rack, and a mini fridge, though it only ran while we were in the room. Staff stored our many bags in a dedicated room. The main problem was bugs. We arrived around 2 a.m. and I killed ten cockroaches within the first few minutes. Breakfast was 45,000 ar, but if we didn't arrive as soon as it opened, there was no food left, and the buffet wasn't refilled. The pool was meant to be heated but was cold enough to be uncomfortable. Parking was full, except for three spaces that were always kept empty for the manager, not guests. The room's single keycard controlled the electricity, so the room got hot while we were out, and the mini fridge warmed up too. At this price, guests should be allowed to keep the room cool. The bathroom walls were dingy and stained with mildew, and the body gel and shampoo dispensers were completely dry. The curtains didn't cover the whole bathroom, so people in much of the courtyard could see in if you weren't careful. The toilet seat was cheap plastic, too. In Tana, 500,000 ar should mean excellent quality with few problems, and electricity should be included.

A clean hotel close to the airport, with very polite staff and a room equipped with all the amenities. Getting into the city from here is a long trip.

The atmosphere is relaxed, the food is good, and it felt like good value for money. Our room was clean, had the basic toiletries, and I slept well. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I'd recommend it especially if you have a flight the next day, since it's near the airport, about 10-15 minutes away without traffic.

The service was great, the view pleasant, and the WiFi good. Rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with the best air conditioning I had in Madagascar. Breakfast was an excellent buffet with a wide choice of food on the main menu. The shower was basic.
