Hotel Continental

The breakfast was nowhere near what I’d expect from a four-star hotel, hardly even a one-star experience. There was only instant coffee, the orange juice came from a bottle on the main table, and the ham and cheese were best left unmentioned. It kept us from being hungry, but there wasn’t much to eat. If you have to stay here, breakfast at the nearest shopping center is cheaper and better. Even though the hotel is “close” to the center, it isn’t worth staying. From the start, things weren’t as they should be. The wireless internet didn’t work for us, and we had to try everything to get connected, likely by switching to another network that was supposed to belong to the hotel. The lack of care showed in the room too. When we pulled back the top sheet, the mattress topper came with it, so after arriving tired we had to make the bed ourselves. There were also lots of spots on the wall.

The staff were friendly and seemed to be doing their best with what they had. I was there for a conference, so I can’t say much about the rooms, but everything else felt average. The hotel is very outdated and clearly in need of renovation.

The room had no fridge, water was leaking from the ceiling, and there was no air conditioning in the middle of a heatwave. Breakfast was supposed to run until 10:00, but by 9:10 nothing was left. The staff just said, “We’re closing in five minutes.” They also provided only one key card for a double room, which was really inconvenient when two people wanted to come and go separately. This was by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, a complete disaster. Avoid it at all costs.

Thank goodness we were there for just one night. The lifts break down, and the hotel has a notice saying it will CHARGE YOU to be rescued, even if you’re stuck after climbing eight flights of stairs. The room was cold, so we needed the electric heater, but it was half melted. I came back with insect bits from the dust-filled blankets in the wardrobe. This was the worst, dirtiest, shabbiest, most shameful dump we’ve ever had the misfortune of staying in.
