Hotel Hamburg Skopje

We were meant to stay here as part of our tour, but we found another hotel the next day. The location is near the city centre, though the building and rooms are very old and there’s no elevator. We might have put up with that if the room had been clean, but the bed covers and sink were dirty.

On Saturday morning, March 29, I was greeted by one of the worst people I’ve encountered at a hotel. I’ve been to 55 countries, and only a few times have I met someone with so little willingness to help and such a terrible attitude. The bearded guy, in case a manager sees this. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Horrible!

This might do for a single night, but I wouldn’t want to stay longer. The bed was very hard, and the room was really hot when I arrived. It took the AC several hours to cool it down. Breakfast was limited, and the quality seemed questionable. The cakes were so dry they seemed like they’d been out for several breakfasts already. The quality doesn’t feel like that of a four-star hotel.

We arrived in Skopje after midnight and couldn’t find the hotel we’d booked or get hold of them, so we spotted Hotel Hamburg and checked in at the last minute. The night shift receptionist on February 18-19 was lovely, polite and welcoming. They gave us a discount off the usual rate because we were arriving late, and let us park our car. It may not be the cheapest place around, but the price was still competitive. The rooms were cosy and very clean. Thanks again, Hotel Hamburg ☺
