Hotel Old Konak

The location is really good for tourists, and breakfast had a nice selection. WiFi mostly worked, apart from a few interruptions in data traffic. The cleaning wasn't good enough. There were black hairs around the sink and in it when we arrived, plus little flies around the toilet that we think came from the floor drain. We stayed five nights, but the rubbish bins weren't emptied and the room wasn't cleaned regularly. It would've been nice to have that done at least every other day. There were no duvet covers or top sheets to use between the cotton blanket and our bodies, even after we asked for extra bedding. When the toilet paper ran out, they gave us a pile of napkins. The toilet seats also made flushing number 2 difficult. Waste tended to spin around instead of going down; once it got completely blocked, and we had to call the staff. We were careful with toilet paper and tried flushing several times. They could charge a little more and put it toward better cleaning.

We stayed at Hotel Old Konak with my family in July 2025. Breakfast had plenty to choose from and was very good. The hotel is right in the middle of Old Bazaar, an excellent location. Staff were welcoming, and check-in was quick. Our clean, comfortable room had modern amenities, including free Wi-Fi and a smart TV. It was a pleasant stay overall.

The facilities weren't nice either. The shower had just one door and holes in the wall, the TV didn't work, and the room needed cleaning. The place felt a bit shady and really wasn't worth the money. When I asked the receptionist how much a legitimate taxi company would charge to get to Matka canyon, they called someone and told me 35 euros, even though it actually costs 11 euros. Clearly they were trying to rip me off.

Our friends in room 1 had trouble with ventilation and airing the room, and there were echoing noises from reception and around the hotel. Parking could be a bit difficult, especially with a larger group. We were more than fine in our own room. The beds were comfortable, it was clean, and we managed to warm it with the air conditioner in February when the temperature was above 0. The staff were friendly without being intrusive, and breakfast was fine.
