The people running the guest house were really, really nice. They let us spend the whole night on the balcony chatting and drinking beers, and I met lots of fun people. It was clean, the showers and bathroom were good, and breakfast was great. They stop cooking around 10 am, but you can still eat until midday. They also offer laundry, bus tickets, and other services. It’s about a five-minute walk to the night market and close to a small shopping mall. There’s a motorbike and bicycle rental right next door. Prices shown on Agoda, booking, and Google are wrong. Some rooms may be available at those prices, but I paid $5 a night for a dorm bed, and I know you can get a single room for $7.

The owner knows the Hpa An area well and was patient and helpful, sharing routes and schedules with new arrivals, especially useful for travellers who had just crossed the border. The whole staff were lovely. The hostel is central, has free coffee and water, and a good vibe. It’s the cheapest in town, though the room was in rough shape and the facilities need more upkeep.

Good for staying 2-3 days while exploring Hpa-An. You get a small fan room for little money, plus free morning coffee and tea and free water. The bathrooms were okay, but plumbing and cleanliness could be better. Upstairs there was just one regular toilet and two squat toilets. Showers are cold only, which was fine in that crazy heat.

The staff were helpful with tours and buses, but the room was in terrible condition. The AC didn’t work and leaked onto the bed. Sewage from the shared bathroom runs openly through the private bathroom’s drain, and it smells. The hot and cold water taps are separate, with no way to mix them. The place is very run down, so try to avoid it.

I’m glad I stayed here, especially as it was my first stop in Myanmar. I got lots of tips from travellers finishing their trip in Hpa An, and the hostel has a nice atmosphere for meeting people. The staff are very kind, and coffee and tea are free. I chose a private room because it was only $1 more than a dorm bed. It’s a bit expensive for what it is, and the bed wasn’t very comfortable, but I could sleep.
