Famous Hotel Loikaw

The customer service was very poor. Although this is a new hotel, the hallway walls have creepy puppets, and my window looked straight onto another wall. The towels had been used and not washed. Hot water was unreliable, swinging from very cold to too hot. Breakfast came as a cheap package, wasn’t tasty, and didn’t provide enough for all the guests. Lunch was expensive, and they wouldn’t provide enough for 40 people.

The pool was clean and good for swimming, and the rooms were spacious and clean in a quiet setting. Rates seemed reasonable for us. Staff were obedient, though slow to respond. Breakfast was buffet style and acceptable.

The room and shower room are both roomy, so it’s fine for a night. The washbasin is very small and makes washing your face awkward, and there’s no writing desk. Breakfast is quite basic, though still better than at other hotels in Loikaw.

The hotel is well placed near 'Naung Yar' lake, with restaurants and food stalls nearby. Wi-Fi was okay, and reception has a photocopier if you ask. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious, and there’s a lift. The pool area is nice, but the bathrooms by the pool smell bad. Service was good. I enjoyed the buffet breakfast, though the pea and vegetable fried rice, traditional vermicelli soup, and Monthinga were bland. The fried bread with egg was soft, tasty, and worth recommending.
