Diamonds Inn

I paid nearly 50K and breakfast wasn’t included, which was a big disappointment. The room itself was fine, but I didn’t feel it was worth the price. WiFi was so slow that even the speed test page wouldn’t load, and the TV didn’t work. Staff weren’t very welcoming to locals, though they may treat foreigners differently. At night, nearby hotels ran generators and the noise came right through the room, which wasn’t soundproof. I’ve stayed in lots of hotels on work trips, and Diamond Inn was the worst place I’ve had to rest.

The room was spacious and very clean, with a great shower. Breakfast was a good buffet, and the location worked well for us: outside the central area, but about a 15-30 minute walk away. There was some traffic noise from the street, so light sleepers should keep that in mind. Best of all, the staff were superb. One man had the loveliest smile and went out of his way to make us feel welcome and help us. They arranged all the transport we needed and shared useful tips about what to do nearby. Thanks for looking after us. We’d happily recommend staying here.

Ask for a quiet room before you arrive if you need sleep. Our first room faced the main road, and the traffic was so loud it felt like cars were driving through the room. The windows did nothing to block it, and even though we were exhausted, I doubt we slept two hours that night. The room facing away from the street was great, though, and we finally got some rest. Staff were friendly and accommodating, breakfast was good, and they’ll pack it to go if you have an early departure. They can also arrange airport taxis at a suitable price, so we’d come back. Paying in local currency came with the usual poor exchange rate in Myanmar.

We got there terribly early, but they let us into the room well before check-in so we could sleep a few hours. The rooms feel modern and have what you need, including free water and WiFi that worked well. Breakfast had several options, and they even booked our bus. I really recommend this place.
