Hilton Mandalay

The pool looked beautiful, but in Mandalay's heat it felt more like a warm bath. After being moved, I slept really well for both nights. My first room had a connecting door, and sound came through it as if it were paper thin. I asked to change rooms, and they moved me without hesitation. Ask for a room without a connecting door when you check in. The reception team were the best we've met so far, and the service from the staff was outstanding. The lobby has lovely, luxurious decor after a recent refurbishment. I hope they carry that work through to the rooms, which need updating. I'd recommend staying here, but check your room first.

The palace view from our room was breathtaking, and the hotel felt like an oasis in the busy city. The pool was amazing too. Mr. Saw Win Phyo and his team made us feel welcome, greeting us by name every time. Their service was incredible and really set the hotel apart from other top places in the area.

The rooms were clean and nice, and breakfast had plenty of variety. I could hear that some rooms were still being renovated, but it wasn't a big deal if you were out during the day. The hotel was rebranded as the international five-star Hilton a year ago, and my experience was better than before Hilton took over.

The lobby and pool are quite nice, and the location is great. The hotel used to be Sedona's, and Hilton hasn't finished renovating it. The rooms and elevators still feel very old, while breakfast was poor at best. There are plenty of nearby hotels that offer better value.
