I couldn’t find a suitable place online, so I walked around downtown until I came across this hotel. The room was good for the price, the staff were really friendly, and the hotel itself is pretty standard. Mandalay has had a hard time with earthquakes and civil war, but I was glad to visit. It’s in a good location, and it’s not one of the big government hotels. If you’re brave enough to go, I can recommend it as a solid place to stay. I have no complaints.

The rooftop cafe has nice city views, and if you’re lucky you can catch both sunrise and sunset. I stayed here a few times. The staff were friendly, and they even brought me a birthday cake and sang a birthday song. That good feeling is hard to forget.
