Nga Laik Kan Tha Garden & Resort

It's a very quiet, remote resort, good for a short break from the city. You get plenty of privacy, and the staff are kind. Room service and cleanliness were good. Food wasn't great, though. If you explain exactly what you want and how it should be cooked, you can have a good stay, but food for one day can cost as much as the rooms. For breakfast, stick with local dishes. Otherwise you may get oily, undercooked egg on toast, oily streaky bacon, chicken sausages, and sweet toast. Breakfast ends before 9AM. Bring a good book since the internet is limited. One nice perk is that you can ask politely to pick your own fresh lemons and other things.

The restaurant has pleasant alfresco dining right beside the lake. Prices are a little high, but not exorbitant. The food used to taste good, though my most recent try was disappointing. Rooms and wooden cabins are spacious and nicely decorated, but the sound insulation is practically nonexistent. It's a good place for walks and boat trips, and great for bird watching and photography, including macro shots. If you like nature, you should be okay with snakes, which are often seen here. The best time to visit is the rainy season or winter. Summer can be hot, though breezy, and the dam's water level can get quite low. It's right beside the expressway, so convenient for a stop while traveling.

Our group stayed in a Chalet for 35$ per room. Everything was clean and tidy, including the comfortable bed and linens. The room was fully equipped, with a microwave too. I liked the wooden bathtub, even though it was a bit small and different from an ordinary tub. Breakfast was delicious. Special meats like wild boar, rabbit, or bear may be available, depending on what's on hand. You can hire a boat across the lake to visit the elephant camp, which kids would really enjoy. A perfect spot to relax, and highly recommended for a short stay.

I spent two nights here with friends in November 2018, and loved the break from the busy, noisy world. The hotel is in a remote spot by the Nga Like Dam, about 20_30 minutes by car from Nay Pyi Daw, with a perfect setting for sunset. Rooms were clean, service was super, and the smiling staff were lovely. The food was perfect. I recommend trying the local Burmese dishes. I tried almost everything on the menu during my 2 nights / 3days stay. There's a full-size bar with local and imported drinks, plus boat rides on the dam and camping trips to the elephant camp on the other side. I'd recommend this place to everyone.
