Sakura Inn

The best pool in Bagan, plus a great view from the resort restaurant. Sakura guests can use the Thiripyitsaya resort facilities, and the staff service and breakfast quality there were superb. The rooms are okay, and the value for money is great. Recommended!

My brother and I spent four fantastic nights here while exploring Bagan’s temples. The Inn is part of Bagan Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort. Our room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and a window view of an old pagoda and big gardens. After a hot day among the temples, the huge swimming pool and its lounging area felt like heaven. The pool was a bit murky and could have used more cleaning. Food and fresh juices were delicious, and the restaurant gets healthy fruit and vegetables from its own organic garden. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I also had a deep tissue oil massage, just what I needed after a long day exploring. One night I spotted a Scorpion crossing the path while walking around. This budget accommodation is attached to a resort with excellent facilities. The rooms are what you’d expect at the budget end, and it was a good experience overall, although the room felt expensive. Hiring the pedal bikes was okay, but they weren’t especially well maintained.

The Thiripyitsaya resort’s older wing has stunning views of the irrawaddy river, especially at sunset, and the staff are extremely polite. But food and drinks are EXTREMELY expensive, a complete rip-off. Bring your own water :-).
