Hotel 99

The staff were really friendly, and the owner arranged good seats for us on the train and took us to the station early in the morning. Great service. Breakfast was good, and the rooftop terrace was a lovely place to eat or sit and read. The hotel is outside the center, but restaurants are within walking distance, and Pyin Oo Lwin's center isn't particularly interesting anyway. A good place to stay.

The staff were helpful with everything, from laundry, which came back smelling great and neatly folded, to reasonably priced taxis and train tickets. The hotel was spotless and seemed to be cleaned and cared for several times a day. Breakfast is a nice buffet on the roof, which is also a good spot to sit at sunset. It’s a bit out of the way from the center of pyin oo lwin, but still worth staying at. My one issue was the price difference between foreigners and locals, almost half. I’ve come across that in other countries too.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and the owner, his family, and the staff are about as friendly as people can be. They speak good English. You can get inexpensive meals and rent a bike or motorbike. One thing to know about the location: the map puts the Motel in the wrong spot. It’s a little farther north, across the big road near the Cantonese Temple. It’s very quiet there, and only 5-10 minutes by bike to Purcell Tower and the city center. The Motel was built in 2014.

They even give you a glass of milk every night at no charge. The price is very reasonable, the room was clean, the location good, and the service excellent.
