Hotel Accord

The location is good, but the room was dirty when I checked in. There was dust on the desks and tables, and the bedsheets had stains. The in-room phone line didn't work when I tried to call reception. A housekeeper came to replace the sheets, but the ones he brought were stained too. After seeing that, he asked if I still wanted the new sheet, then said all the sheets would be like that even though they came from a new laundry bag. I asked politely whether they used an outside laundry service, and he said yes. I suggested the laundry place might not be doing its job properly, but he insisted it was used by most of the famous hotels in town. I'm not expecting top-notch service. After a long, tiring trip, I just wanted the basics I paid for: clean sheets, a working phone, and clean desks and tables.

The second time I stayed, room 206 was at least a meter wider than my first room, room 505. It had two bedside tables and plugs I could reach easily, which made all the difference. In room 505, two of us felt cramped and couldn't pass each other without one jumping onto the bed, and one side had no table. The only other small issue was getting water refills. They provide bottles but don't have an easy-to-use, eco-friendly refill station. The kitchen staff always helped when I asked, though they looked a bit uncomfortable. There are money changers nearby, but when I left I could only find one to exchange my leftover MMK for USD: WK at the larger junction southwest of the hotel. Otherwise, I loved my stays. The hotel has great staff, a good breakfast buffet with a nice fruit plate for vegans, a central spot beside a busy local market, and power all the time thanks to a backup generator.

The elevator was the biggest nuisance. There's only one for the whole hotel, and staff use it all day, so guests can end up waiting a long time. The location was nice, the breakfast very good, and the staff were kind and helpful. My room could've been in better condition and maintenance, but it was okay. I thought it cost too much for what you got, though acceptable by Myanmar standards.

Check-in was pretty quick when I walked in, and room service was there. Breakfast tasted good. The name is kinda funny, but everything else was good. Lunch was just mid, but c'mon, it's lunch.
