Elegant Hotel Pyi Thar Yar

I was very disappointed. The staff and the manager lady repeatedly intruded on guests' privacy, asking invasive questions about what people were doing at the hotel. It made me uncomfortable, and I no longer felt safe or respected. I reported problems with WiFi, the poor breakfast, and the cleaning service during my stay, but got no satisfactory response. I can't recommend this hotel unless it changes its privacy practices.

The staff were friendly and hospitable, the rooms were clean and tidy, and the shower was good. But the bed in my room wasn't good enough. It made noise when I tried to sleep, and the room wasn't soundproof, so I could hear people walking and talking in the hallway. WiFi was poor when I arrived, with a weak connection in my room that caused lag during my online meeting. If you go for breakfast around 8:45 AM, there may not be much left, and I didn't see anyone refill the food, especially the fried rice. The food I ordered for dinner at night didn't feel good or fresh enough either. Food needs to be fresher and better, WiFi needs a strong connection in every room, and the air conditioning and beds need maintenance to compare better with other hotels. I think the rest is fine.

The rooftop is a nice spot for cocktails, with a good selection and a relaxing view over Yangon. It can cost a bit, though I felt it was worth it. The rooms are spacious, clean, and cared for, and the staff are welcoming. The neighborhood is quiet but well located, and the buffet breakfast is excellent. Service is above average.

They have day-use rooms at a fair price, and the rooms are tidy and clean. There’s also parking on the ground floor. The quiet, mostly empty lobby suited me as an introvert, though I wish they’d added more plants to it and the corridors. One odd thing from my past experience: after I’d just returned from the airport, they wouldn’t accept my passport to book a day-use room, apparently because it wasn’t an overnight stay. It’s a cozy, quiet three-star hotel.
