We had a lot of unnecessary, frustrating incidents here, and I won’t return or recommend it to friends and family. The place felt cramped and dirty, the washroom was very dirty, and cleaners barely came to clean or change towels. Breakfast was complimentary but repetitive and not very tasty. Management and staff were completely unprofessional. I had a foreign passport, and felt they used that to charge us more for the stay. When we asked for their policy and why the extra charge wasn’t mentioned on the website, staff ignored us. We also found drugs in the washroom. We raised concerns that someone might have broken in, but staff dismissed us and refused a refund. Their rudeness and lack of help left us worried about our safety, with no solution offered. Staff also knocked on our door at random, which was frightening. When I answered in English, they yelled at me in Burmese. With the amount they charge foreigners, I think you’d be better off at a nicer hotel with good customer service. Be aware that they may not refund you even after a bad stay.

We stayed at Beauty Land Hotel on March 14th and 15th, and checkout turned the visit into a huge disappointment. Staff accused us of taking a cup noodle from the room. Neither of us touched it, and we don’t even like cup noodles. We hadn’t noticed whether there was one in the room at all. The snacks we brought from outside were still there because we’d eaten plenty elsewhere. We explained, but they still insisted we pay for something we hadn’t consumed. That unfair treatment ruined the experience. We’ll never stay there again and definitely don’t recommend this hotel.

The room and toilet were awful, the water was bad, and the staff were the worst part. My partner was treated without respect by the receptionist, who acted like he owned the place. He took a bottle of water and asked me to carry it. I didn’t mind doing that, but the overall attitude was a problem. I’d booked early that morning and asked for a room with a bathtub. They gave us a dark room without one, even though I’d paid for it. I could have managed without a bathtub, but I’d already paid. The room smelled, and the air conditioning made it feel like being shut in with bad air. I asked to move, and the next room, the one I’d requested, smelled too. I asked for air freshener and was ignored. Staff yelled at me in Burmese when I replied in English. Maybe they treat foreigners nicely, I don’t know. I’d seen good feedback on Google Maps, but this visit was awful in every way. The toilets were disgusting, and bad room service would be one thing, but bad hotel staff is another. If you’re after a nice view of Shwedagon Pagoda, I’d still avoid this place.

We paid 50000 mmk for two nights, for what they said was their highest rated room. If I’d known how poor it was, I would have chosen another hotel at the same price with five star level service and facilities. Prices may change depending on the time. The location doesn’t matter much? Consider Grand Palace Hotel, where we had a great experience for 53000mmk. Our room had no towels, despite its price, and for two people they provided only 1 liter of water per day. There was a kettle but no coffee. Cleaning staff didn’t ask whether we wanted the room cleaned. The bathroom had no single use soap. They supplied shower gel and shampoo, but they smelled like rotten eggs, as if they hadn’t been refilled or replaced. Breakfast was free, but the entire buffet was two types of fried rice, spicy and normal, two side dishes, soup, coffee, and juice. That was really all. This Beauty Land Hotel (Bo Cho Street) felt more like a couples dating place than a hotel, and motels nowadays are much better. Bad management, bad hotel.

The only thing I can say in its favor is that they used a generator at night. The location is okay, but without your own transport you have to walk about 15 min through the streets to reach the hotel. It felt more like a couples' section hotel. For hotel prices, the standard was no better than a guest house. We waited about 45min at check-in while they cleaned the room, and there wasn’t even a free water bottle. No towels arrived after I called twice. They had no single use shampoo or soap, and what they offered looked too questionable to use in a room like that. I doubt the sheets had been changed since the previous guest. The aircon remote barely worked, and I had to click it a thousand times to connect. Pretty bad management. Sorry, 0.1/10. I’ll never come back.
