Great Glory Hotel

You get a lovely river view from the room, which is a real perk. It’s a great place at a reasonable price, but quite far from places to eat or have a drink. I’d recommend it for a longer stay.

The staff are very nice and polite, but the location isn’t convenient. There are no shops nearby, and the closest supermarket is a 20-minute walk. A slum-like area is next door. Noise is another issue: you can hear TVs or music from the ground level, plus a boom from the nearby river port whenever a ship leaves.

There’s a rooftop restaurant where breakfast is served, and you can have a drink in the evening. The place is very clean and nice, with big rooms and really helpful staff. Very, very nice!

We stayed here twice while in Yangon, and the staff and attention to detail keep bringing us back. The manager and his wife went out of their way to make our stays good. The hotel looks like it’s seen better days, but everything worked in both rooms: the air conditioning was excellent, and the internet was more reliable than at many pricier places in Yangon. Our rooms were quiet, which mattered since I was working while traveling. It’s a basic budget hotel that goes well beyond what I expected. I’m looking forward to coming back and can’t recommend it enough.
