Sanctuary Hotel Yangon

The location is great, right in front of all the tourist attractions, but my two-day stay was frustrating. The room had no towel, coffee mix, cups, or slippers for the room or bathroom, so I had to ask for nearly all those basics. Breakfast wasn't as good as what nearby restaurants or tea shops serve.

The room seemed clean and everything else was okay for me, but the noise made for a terrible night. The walls aren't concrete, so you can hear everything outside, from couples arguing to staff chatting. I couldn't sleep all night, and it seemed like they weren't sleeping either. The other amenities couldn't make up for it. I wouldn't recommend staying here if noise affects your sleep.

If cleanliness matters to you, I wouldn't stay here. The room was cramped and dirty, with a bad smell and a white pillowcase that had turned yellow. They seemed to focus only on couples staying in the section, and room service was beyond what they could handle. There’s no parking, and the road is difficult to drive on. A taxi might leave you at the intersection, so you have to walk the rest of the way.

I usually don't leave bad reviews, but this was the worst hotel ever for me. The room was tiny, and both the food and service were poor. The receptionist was especially disappointing: she kept looking at her phone while I was asking for help, and spoke to guests rudely, as if they were her staff. Basic service was missing. The rooftop bar staff were more or less okay.
