The Loft Yangon

The room was fantastic, with a chic, unusual design, a very comfortable bed, and a shower that worked perfectly. The Loft Hotel Downtown Yangon exceeded my expectations, especially because of the staff. Saw and the new chef in charge were particularly helpful and courteous. Myanmar’s restrictions made it hard for me to get a SIM card on my first day, so staff volunteered to go with me to a store and help with my phone. On my third day, Saw walked around the block with me to help find a restaurant. They checked in often and offered help. The location also made it easy to get to nearby pagodas, a mall, spas, and restaurants. The restaurant is still figuring out a regular menu, but they were happy to make food based on my cravings when ingredients were available. I had a full-course meal that tasted better than I expected, even though I first thought the place seemed a bit pretentious, and the price was surprisingly affordable.

The location was excellent, with downtown and the main sights within walking distance. Bogyoke Market is only 400 meters away, and T.H.O.R, a lively live music venue with a stage, is about a five-minute walk for the evening. The hotel sits on a small side street, so it was very quiet even at night. Everything was spotless, and the staff were attentive, answered my questions, and helped with what I needed. The beds were extremely comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. I’ll definitely stay again next time I’m in Yangon.

A good pick if you’re after a rooftop bungalow-style holiday in this big city. The room and atmosphere were nice. Breakfast wasn’t buffet style, and I wasn’t satisfied with it.

The location worked really well, with pretty much everything we needed close by. We stayed in January 2020 and had a very enjoyable time. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, and the bathroom was roomy and clean. The street-facing view wasn’t much to look at, but the room got plenty of light and street noise didn’t bother me. It was quite calm at night. We did hear our upstairs neighbour now and then, probably walking around in heavy shoes. The staff were very welcoming. I’d recommend it.
