Chinggis Khaan Hotel

We could walk to most of the city’s historical and cultural sights, and there were plenty of restaurants nearby, including Indian and Japanese places, plus convenience stores and high-end cashmere flagships. The hotel itself was clean, with well-serviced rooms, soft good-quality sheets, a very comfortable mattress, and new, quiet air conditioning that kept us cool. Breakfast had a tasty variety and friendly service. For what we paid, we got a comfortable stay and a lot of service. It’s among Mongolia’s best for value, location, facilities, and well-trained staff.

The only drawback for me was the location, around a 20-25 minute walk from the city center, though there’s a large supermarket and a department store close by. I stayed twice in August 2025 and was glad I chose it. The room was spacious and well cared for, even if the hotel isn’t new. After a long hike and nights in tents, the bed was especially comfortable. As a group leader I had logistics to sort out, and front desk manager Tanna and the rest of the team communicated well and were incredibly helpful. Their support made a real difference. Very good value, and I’d gladly stay again.

We were two in the room, but were given only one key card. The hotel said they were “sold out” and had no extras. It wasn’t a huge issue, though it was awkward when we wanted to come and go separately. Aside from that, my stay at Chinggis Khaan Hotel was very pleasant. The lobby and shared spaces felt elegant and welcoming, and my room was spacious, spotless, and equipped with what I’d expect from a top hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Breakfast had a broad mix of Mongolian and international food. Even on a busy weekend, the front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Comfortable, well-located, and professional, with the key card shortage the one small snag.

The room had plenty of space, though it felt a bit old. Breakfast was good, but it didn’t change during my four-night stay. I appreciated how helpful and accommodating the staff were, and there are lots of places to eat nearby. A pleasant stay for the price.
