Khubilai Hotel Ulaanbaatar

It’s a brand new hotel with decent rooms and food, but it’s a long way from downtown and the traffic is terrible. The pool situation was unacceptable. They made my family show physical examination documents for parasites before we could use it. I’ve stayed in countless hotels across many countries and have never faced such an offensive, ridiculous demand. The manager turned us away instead of using basic judgment. It showed very poor management, staff who weren’t trained, and no understanding of customer service.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the room was spotless, everything was shining. My double room was majestic, with a very high ceiling, and for the price I sometimes wouldn’t even get a capsule room in Tokyo. I had a long 13 layover in Ulaanbaatar and mainly needed a hot shower and some rest. Since Chinngis Khan airport is far from downtown, several Mongolian friends warned me I might not make it in time if I booked a hotel in the city center. This place was perfect, about 30 minutes by car from the airport. I eventually spent the night in Ulaanbaatar, then came back just to shower and sleep for an hour and a half. I’d definitely use this hotel again if I visit Mongolia, and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ulaanbaatar.

The front desk staff were especially warm and professional. They got me checked in quickly and even shared some great local recommendations. My room was clean, comfortable, and nicely designed. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back.

The room was spacious and quite comfortable. We also asked the hotel to arrange a taxi to pick us up and take us to the airport.
