Urgoo Boutique Hotel

We stayed at two hotels in Ulaanbaatar, and honestly this was the only one we should have chosen. The rooms were nicely spacious without being huge. The lobby and elevator bay were cozy, though a little cramped. The front desk was extremely helpful, even with odd requests like asking for tape to seal an envelope. The desk seemed to be staffed by a middle-aged woman who spoke English and a young man who didn't. Both were very helpful, and the other could be called over when needed. As long as you're friendly and patient, I wouldn't worry too much about the language barrier.

The room had plenty of space, but the shower was awkwardly designed: the head pointed straight at the curtain and bathroom wall, so you had to hold it or water would go everywhere. We also had to wait a while to check in because nobody was at reception. Like another reviewer mentioned, the hotel charged more than the booking price. Breakfast was late too. They only started preparing it after we went to the desk to ask.

We stayed here twice and had a great time both visits. The rooms were clean and comfortable, especially compared with other places we stayed in UB. Ours had a small kitchenette with a portable stove, which came in handy, and its own hot water heater that worked. We didn't need the AC, so we didn't try it. The service was friendly too.

I stayed at Urgoo Hotel in Ulaanbaatar in August 2024. It's good value for the money and well placed near key attractions, with spacious rooms. The broken elevator, limited English-speaking staff, and uneven breakfast quality take away from the experience. A convenient option for budget travelers.
