Zuchi Hotel

The interior seems to have been renovated, and the price for the building isn't high, probably because there isn't a large reserved parking area. The winter discount in the lower currency rate seems to attract some rather peasant-ish foreigners. Still, this is one of the few large-lobby hotels in the city that is closer to nature. It's also near the city center, so it works well if you have business in town and want to be closer to parks and nature.

On my first stay, the room was basic but decent enough. The bathroom faucet had no water, and every shower flooded the shower area. I asked reception to fix it every day, even having my Mongolian host speak to them in the local language, but they made no attempt. Housekeeping only came if I specifically requested it. Breakfast was pathetic, with nothing edible beyond white bread.

It's a clean, spacious, comfortable hotel, and I liked that it wasn't busy and the customer service was great. There's a nice restaurant and coffee cafe on the ground floor. As far as I know, it's been around a long time, and the employees seem to put in their best effort to keep it going. Wheelchair access is available, and there's parking in the area. Highly recommend staying here and enjoying it.

I had a five-night stay in Mongolia, and because I booked through a third party, I couldn't switch hotels. None of the staff I met spoke English. The first night was extremely noisy, like a party, and breakfast the next morning was a disaster, with none of the food hot. That improved by the final day. The bigger problem was the shower water. From the second night it was freezing cold, and after two days it reached maybe 25°, which was still far too cold. A hotel without a hot shower, like a bakery without bread or a pub without beer...?
