Grand Dragon Hotel

We found restaurants and supermarkets right beside the hotel, which was handy for picking up souvenirs and other things. The location was a plus, and the room was clean and spacious. For a night in a deluxe twin room we paid over HKD600; everything else felt spot on. Check-in took only five minutes, the design was modern but considered, and the toilet and shower were relaxing to use, with hot water coming through in three seconds. I only took photos of the gym and pool. The gym has equipment for most training needs, including a cable machine, while the pool seemed quite small, maybe 15m long. A taxi to the airport was about MOP50, plus MOP5 for each bag. The hotel’s free shuttle only went to the harbour.

The hotel was clean, but a bathroom noise, which I think came from the fan, went on all night. I asked reception to check it or move me to another room, but they refused. I couldn’t sleep, and I was very disappointed.

The room itself was fine, and the toilet was average, but the WiFi was awful and lagged badly. There’s no room service and no hotel lounge or lobby. The only lounge closes at 21:30; I went at 20:30 and was told to leave because they were apparently closing early. I only wanted to sit, not order a drink, but couldn’t stay. For a hotel with a casino, how is the room WiFi not even faster than 50mbs? I’m not coming back. One star.

The room was bright and clean, and the location worked well. The tram station is about a five minute walk away, with plenty of supermarkets, restaurants, and convenience stores nearby.
