The rooms were awesome, and the food and entertainment were excellent. It’s a great place that not many English-speaking travelers seem to know about.

The beach is small but clean, and the view of the sailboats with Mt. Pelee behind them was the best part of our stay. We were there for 1-week, and having a car for day trips would be a good idea if you don’t want to spend all your time by the pool or beach. Breakfast had plenty of choices, including eggs made to order, but it was the same every day. The dinner buffet was mediocre at best. We ate there twice, then went out for dinner the rest of the time. Our garden room was clean but outdated and badly in need of renovation. For what we paid, it was a real disappointment after staying in places around the world. The wi-fi was absolutely terrible, so we gave up on it and used the eSIM I’d bought for the week. With the room and food falling short, the price didn’t feel worthwhile, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

The clear water, soft sand, and loungers make the beach lovely, though it’s public and gets crowded. There’s no service on the beach, so you have to walk to the bar for food or drinks. No background music either, just the natural sounds and loud kids. That’s the hotel’s main draw, but it didn’t make the cost worthwhile for me. I stayed in Room 606 in the Gran Kay building. It was tiny, about 200 sq ft, basic, and missing things like an iron, lotion, and a shower cap. The water took ages to warm up, and the faucet barely worked. Breakfast and dinner were included, but the food was just okay and forgettable. Finding a clean table at dinner was hard, and the beach bar pizza was the worst I’ve ever had. Check-in was frustrating. No staff were readily available to help an English-speaking guest, which surprised me for a hotel that caters to international visitors. They seemed more impressed by my Platinum Amex than interested in offering useful help. Nobody helped with my luggage, and the directions on a laminated map were vague. I dragged my suitcase around until a housekeeper showed me where my room was. After check-in, the hotel emailed to ask if I was settled. I replied in English and French with basic questions and got no answer. They did contact me the day before checkout to say they’d charge $25 if I didn’t return my pool towel cards. That made it seem like the cards mattered more than helping guests. The Wi-Fi was the worst I’ve experienced. The unsecured connection dropped within minutes, and when I asked at the front desk, they laughed and said they get complaints daily. In 2025, that’s unacceptable at premium rates. I’ve traveled the world, and Hôtel Bambou left me with mixed feelings. The setting is beautiful, but service and hospitality don’t match the $400+ per night price. It’s about basic hospitality, not just the language barrier. Staff who don’t speak English, poor service, few amenities, and weak communication were all disappointing. I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it unless you’re okay with paying luxury prices for hostel-level service. Rating: 2.5/5 Stars.

The garden is nice and the location works well for exploring the Island, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The rooms were clean, though old and in need of an update. Breakfast was okay, but the same every day. An omelette and a few kinds of bread besides the same Baguette they serve at dinner would help. Dinner was especially disappointing. My husband and I are both vegetarian, and rice and vegetables were the only options. Everything was written in French, and most employees either couldn’t or wouldn’t speak English. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to anyone who doesn’t speak French.
