We asked for a couple of extra hours before our late flight and were told the hotel could “tolerate” us. The pool supposedly closes at 7pm, but other guests were still in it while we alone were told to get out. Towels were another hassle. There’s no daily housekeeping, which the website does mention, but the front desk said fresh towels, a new rubbish bag, and toilet paper were only available every four days. They insisted that meant Thursday even though we checked in on Saturday, and claimed they’d explained this at check-in. They hadn’t. The room had a stale, old-gym-bag smell and felt like a thermal spa. The air conditioning only works with your room key, so you can’t leave it running when you go out. It was dusty and grimy, barely cooled the room, dripped onto the balcony cooking area, and had mold on the indoor-facing unit. Paint was peeling too. There was a coffee maker, but no snacks like some recent reviews mention. You’ll also want dish soap and cleaning supplies, since neither was provided and we bought them ourselves to clean the bathroom and dishes before use. The bathroom window wouldn’t close, and none of the windows or doors had fly screens, despite the dengue outbreak warnings. The tiny shower had a sizeable patch of mold. The sliding patio door lock didn’t work properly on the ground floor, so staff left us a wooden stick to wedge it shut. The main door lock was so loose and wobbly that we figured a determined toddler could break it in under four seconds. The room safe costs 24 Euro per week. There’s supposedly a restaurant by the pool serving breakfast and lunch. The friendly front desk clerk told us about it at check-in, but there isn’t one. There’s just a space that might once have been a restaurant. The front desk is staffed only a few hours a day, so arriving after 8pm means nobody will be there. After a long travel day, we found a rock-hard, uncomfortable bed with just two flat sheets and a mattress protector, no blanket, comforter, bedspread, duvet, or anything else. We spent a week here through an Air Canada "Vacations" package. It was no vacation, and the shower is a science experiment where you can only get towels on Thursday.
