We spent three nights here in January and were greeted with real warmth. The view from our room was disappointing, though, and we could hear conversations from neighboring rooms the whole time. For several hundred euros a night, I expected at least basic breakfast to be included. We enjoyed the stay, but the value felt pretty average.

The breakfast buffet was below average, with hard bread and very few pastries. In the room, the fridge was empty, the door wouldn't close properly, and plaster was coming off the wall. We could hear the neighbors through the walls too. Nothing here felt special enough to justify the price. Don't waste your money.

The suite made the stay: we loved the shower looking onto a little private garden, plus the terrace overlooking the garden. Dinner was wonderful too, with amazing food and wine. We were welcomed with a lovely drink and friendly greeting, and the lush grounds and wooden buildings made everything feel peaceful. We were only at Hotel French Coco for one night, but it was our best night on the island.

The food was fabulous, with a flavorful menu built around fresh local ingredients. Service was attentive, and the rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated, with generous private outdoor areas, some including plunge pools. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel in a quiet part of Martinique. There are a few beach bars within walking distance, though a car would be useful if you’re staying longer than a couple of days. A lovely place to start or finish a longer Caribbean trip.

The live music was fantastic, the musician was lovely, and the atmosphere felt romantic. A nearby table made racist remarks about the music, which I called out. It’s a shame, because the food was very good, but we couldn’t really enjoy it. Service was awful: the server was incredibly rude, seemed to ignore us, and appeared to give much more attention to people from mainland France. We waited 45 minutes for menus and another 30 for drinks, then spent three hours there having only drinks and main courses. The hotel itself is lovely, and most of the staff were kind and friendly. Our room was pleasant and comfortable, but its listing and photos were misleading. We’d booked the largest room, advertised for three adults, yet there was barely any space or privacy. The beds faced each other just a metre or two apart, with no screen door as we’d expected.
