Casa Cara

Maria made us feel so welcome at Casa Cara in Birgu. She shared historical information and inspiration, recommended places to eat, and let us use the laundry facilities, which was a lifesaver. We found little gifts from them on two occasions, and there’s an amazing collection of books about Malta. The loft bedroom was really cool, and the rooftop was a relaxing place with incredible views. I already miss being there.

Maria left us sweet presents and water in the fridge, and we had a really good rest. The apartments are very nice and good value, in a quiet spot, with easy check-in. Ours had two levels and was very clean. There were two air conditioners, which helped keep the room comfortable. The best part is the unreal terrace on the roof, with a lovely view and space to chill. Thanks, dear Maria.

The rooftop was our favorite spot, such a great view. We loved our week here, and Maria was wonderful. She helped us get a rental car, told us what to do and treated us to sweets. We had apartment one, with a nice bathroom, though the kitchen is a bit under-equipped. With so many restaurants around, that wasn’t a big deal. The bedroom is upstairs, which could be tricky for small kids or anyone less mobile, but there’s also a bed-couch downstairs. On colder days, the lower area is hard to heat, while upstairs warms up quickly. We also missed having a good way to shop for groceries. If you’re used to getting everything in one place, shop before heading into old Birgu.

Maria did everything she could to make us feel welcome in this beautiful old building with its distinctive character. She even brought breakfast for our first morning and left little cakes or biscuits each day. The rooms were spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.
