Isky Apartments

We were on the fifth floor, and the elevator made getting up there easy. The rooms have a lovely feel, are very clean, and the modern decor in both the room and bathroom looks great. The center is nearby too. Parking could be tricky since the building is right on the street, though there is parking beneath it that may cost extra. We left the car on the street near the rooms and walked a bit. A really nice, tidy place that I’d recommend.

The apartment was fairly new, clean, and well equipped, and the owner replied to most of our requests. But it was noisy, with construction and neighbors. The main issue was that the listing showed apartments with windows and an outside view, while the one we got was in the basement. That wasn’t mentioned in the Booking.com description, and I would have booked somewhere else if I’d known. I feel misled. Check the listings carefully, because you may not get what you expect.

We had an awful stay and felt mocked over our money. We paid 248 euro for 5 nights, but I was refunded only 38 euro for the first night, even though one night comes to 49 euro. We also booked months ahead and still ended up in a basement apartment. On 6th November, after a long flight, we arrived to find it filthy and clearly used by someone else: dirty sheets, trash by the entrance, tampons in the bathroom, hair everywhere, poop on the toilet seat, and bugs throughout. We called several times without an answer, then reached them on WhatsApp. They said it was “human” to have skipped cleaning the room. No, isky apartments, it wasn’t human to leave us in that situation. Management didn’t resolve it, so we bought bleach and bug spray. My wife cleaned the bath in the middle of the night, then we had to leave after spraying the room. We were out on the street until midnight. I contacted the property again and Booking, but neither helped. We wanted to leave, but Booking didn’t help us get out and the property wouldn’t refund the full amount. We ended up back in the apartment at 1 am, sleeping on chairs like people at a bus stop. I called Booking again at 3 am and still got no solution. The cleaner arrived at 9.30 am, did a very quick job, and left us with a wrinkled sheet and two towels, with no shampoo or shower gel. Nobody changed the towels during our 5 days. Breakfast was a joke: cereal in jars and croissants with no expiration date, which could be a problem. The cleaner took the used milk and juice from the fridge and didn’t replace them, so we had no breakfast. Communication with the property was poor, and there was no cleaner for the rest of the stay. After the worst vacation ever, I’d warn people to be careful.

Breakfast wasn’t much to write home about, and the place was short on basics like soap. Check-out at 10 feels early. The apartment itself works well for two, but I wouldn’t stay with more people because the sofa bed is uncomfortable. It’s still a good alternative if you don’t want a hotel.
