Alkina Lodge Hotel

We'd happily stay here again. The guesthouse is run by a lovely Chinese family, and although I happen to speak the language, I also saw them use a translator with guests who didn't speak English. It's just a two-minute walk from the pier, which is handy. They worked around our diving schedule for breakfast and, best of all, had a washing machine we could use. Breakfast was simple and nice, the rooms were modest but comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was decent. If you're mostly out scuba diving and just need a place to sleep, it fits the bill. They also catch fish and prepare a Chinese seafood feast for $20USD per person. My husband usually doesn't care for fish, but he loved it. Everything was very fresh. There are several restaurants within a two-minute walk serving chicken and chips, rotti, curries, and pizza, so this is the only place doing good Chinese seafood. I noticed another reviewer had complained about the Chinese food, but we were glad to have it.

We left after arriving, even though we'd paid for three nights in two rooms. We didn't want the rest of our vacation spoiled, and quickly found a cheaper, fancier hotel with much better facilities and service. The photos didn't match the place. The guesthouse was very dirty, including the table and glasses, so we had to clean them ourselves. The rooms were clean enough, but there were several cockroaches. The tables in the photos we sent had already been cleaned by us. There were two Chinese staff members who couldn't speak English, and one refused to communicate with us. Several things that happened made us very uncomfortable. Owner, please do something.

The location on Fulidhoo's amazing beach was lovely, just a one-minute walk from the jetty. We had an amazing 10-day stay at Alkina Lodge and wished we could have stayed longer. Feng, Anshur, and the rest of the staff were friendly and accommodating. They served great meals, including vegetarian food for one of us, and shared their fresh fish and lobster catches with the non-vegetarian in our group. So generous. We'll be back. Thank you all!

We were treated so well during our four days at Alkina. Moosa and everyone there were kind and attentive, and the rooms were clean and spacious. The local breakfast with mas huni is highly recommended. It was hard to leave. Thanks for everything!
