Gangehi Island Resort

The island is gorgeous, cozy and quiet, with a lovely reef all around it. The houses are comfortable and have everything you need, and there’s a delicious variety of food. This was the best vacation of my life. Service was outstanding too, always professional, friendly and helpful. Yuri, Delaide and Ilaria were particularly wonderful. You are the best!

Villa 39 was perfect when we were moved there, but it was already 5:00 PM on February 8th, after our Wi-Fi had failed and we’d been through several stressful rounds of communication. By then our holiday was over. The contrast made it clear that Villa 45’s problems were defects in that villa, not normal for the resort. Even after I emailed customer relations, they still wouldn’t admit room 45 had problems. I understood that my request for a particular sunset luxury water villa couldn’t be guaranteed. Still, our stay in Villa 45 was a disaster. Hot water was the main issue. We reported it on the first day, and a staff member showed us the switches. The water was hot for a moment, so we thought it had been fixed. By that evening, it ran cold before one person could finish a basic shower. The next morning I tested it, and the temperature dropped to 30°C in less than five minutes. Reservation said this was “normal” because the tank was small. But guests who had just left told us their villas didn’t have the same problem. I was also offended when the Reservations Department told my travel agent I’d demanded “an hour of constant hot water.” That was completely made up. I’d been clear that we only needed enough hot water for one person to wash their hair and body. The Reservations team was cold and unhelpful, and reservation eventually stopped replying, leaving us feeling abandoned. The villa had other problems too: the telephone was broken, so we had to walk to reception whenever something went wrong; the sink leaked; the lighting was very dim; and there was no TV box.

The lagoon is crystal clear, and the underwater life is stunning, with baby sharks, rays and turtles. This small, beautiful island resort also has an amazing beach and a long sandbank. It ticks all the boxes for a dream Maldives holiday.

I proposed here, so the resort will always mean a lot to me. It was one of the best trips I’ve ever had. From our room, we could see the ocean, and swimming straight from the porch felt like a dream. The view was breathtaking, unlike anything I’d experienced before. Giorgio, the manager, made us feel genuinely welcome, and the staff were all so warm and friendly. The food was delicious, and the island has a lovely balance: it’s away from the city and feels secluded, but it wasn’t too crowded or too quiet either. A special place, and an incredible resort.
