Vilu Rest Hotel

We organized the FHA-Maldives Exhibition this year and stayed at Vilu Rest with our staff and several international judges. Manager Fazhaad and owner Saud gave us a great deal of support, and the hospitality was very good. The rooms were clean and tidy for the price, the food was reasonably priced, and the location works well for either a holiday or a work trip. It was worth it.

A messy start: we waited over an hour at the airport for pickup. When they finally brought us to our room, it was smelly and far from the lobby. A horrible experience.

I stayed with my family for a few nights and loved Vilu Rest Hotel. The café’s à la carte food was so good that I ate every meal there. Imran, Saif, Abishaik, and Dipsana were especially friendly and gave excellent service. I highly recommend the place to locals and visitors for a great dining experience.

The pickup was supposed to be at 11:50 AM, but we were left waiting at the airport until 12:50. When the van arrived, it was cramped and seemed meant for about six people, yet they put twelve of us in. The driver said two more guests would join, but another six were squeezed in like cattle. The resort smelled strongly of urine and feces, and the odor stayed even with the AC running or windows open. I have a severe dust allergy, and the filthy, unhygienic conditions triggered it badly. I nearly needed hospitalisation. I’ve stayed in many kinds of hotels, but none came close to this. We were misled about the other six people in our group staying at the same hotel. They were dropped at a different, much better hotel, and we only found out on the way to the airport when we had to collect them there. There are two other Vilu Resort branches that are much cleaner and more hygienic, so I don’t understand why this one is still operating. Staff kept the room price vague when we asked, saying only that it “starts from $70.” The price was hidden from us, even though better nearby options like Vista Beach Resort were available for $46 per night. Don’t let the “3-star hotel” claim fool you. This felt like a 1-star nightmare, with a terrible smell and lies, while there are plenty of clean, affordable, honest hotels around. Save your money and health and stay away.
