I've never felt so looked after from the start of a trip to the end. At Male, the team took us straight to the front of the seaplane check-in line, then arranged a private car instead of putting us on the hotel transfer bus. We waited just 20 minutes from leaving the airport to flying over the Indian Ocean. We'd missed our Doha connection and arrived 45 minutes late, but after we emailed the hotel, they told us not to worry and handled the seaplane arrangements for us. Once there, it felt like paradise. The villa was amazing, and so were the food, watersports, spa, dolphin boat trip and beach dinner. The staff were fantastic. Our butler Naajy planned a perfect itinerary, and when we weren't sure about an excursion or treatment, he asked us to trust him. He was right every time. The bar team also came up with unusual cocktails they thought we'd enjoy, and got those right too. The personal touches made us feel special and at home. Staff knew our names or what we'd been doing that day, so conversations felt personal. From the airport arrival through passport control on the way home, the team took care of every small detail. I doubt there's anywhere else like it. When you compare the cost of paying separately for food, drinks, spa, watersports and experiences elsewhere, having everything included here seems like a no-brainer. The food, wine, cheese, staff and everything else were sheer perfection. It's 100% the best place I've ever stayed, and I'm sad I may never find somewhere this perfect again.

The Maldivian hospitality is what I’ll remember most. Kudadoo is owned by a Maldivian company with foreign shareholders, and it feels personal and authentic, far from the big names and brands. The barefoot living and wooden floors capture the Maldivian way of life. From Velana International Airport until check-in for your flight home, Team Kudadoo stays by your side and makes sure you're cared for. Their values come through as warmth and friendship. It's a great secluded escape with a partner, for a honeymoon, or, as it was for me, a chance to spend quality time with my mum. The setting has cream-colored sand and water that shifts from turquoise to deep navy. There's a beautiful coral reef where you can snorkel with your butler if you're on your own. Guests can also visit sister property Hurawalhi and eat at its restaurants, including the spectacular underwater 5.8 restaurant. The villas are beautifully decorated, with little comforts already thought through: reef-safe sunscreen, slippers and beach thongs, mosquito repellent that you may never need, and even a pencil case and drawing paper if inspiration strikes. There's an infinity pool overlooking the sea, where you can spot dolphins, turtles, sharks and sometimes an eagle ray. The spa is small but spacious enough, and you can have a candlelit bath overlooking the water. The bar's orange and gold colors blend into the sunset. Sustainability is another major part of the experience. The Retreat has 928 solar panels on its roof and runs entirely on solar power, without fuel. The resort also desalinate seawater for its own still and sparkling water, helping reduce its carbon footprint and support the environment and ecosystem. Even the guest information panel covers useful details like tides, sunrise and sunset times, and energy produced and saved. Buggies are available if you don't feel like walking, and when you arrive, one has your name engraved on a wooden panel you can take home. They bring sunscreen and toiletries to the pool and leave snacks in the villa at turndown. These unexpected touches make you fall for the whole idea behind AAA, “Anything, Anywhere, Anytime.” It really is impressive.
