Gili Lankanfushi Maldives

Gili Lankanfushi feels like a community, somewhere guests and staff can feel at home, as well as a getaway. We had a memorable, incredible stay, and every member of staff helped make it special. Our Ms. Friday, Shaany, was friendly, attentive and made everything more comfortable. Even at departure, she surprised us with a drawing of us on the beach. Such a thoughtful gesture, she’s a gem. It was a real chance to connect with ourselves and nature. I recommend asking for a host tour with Chief Engineer Majed. Seeing the resort’s self-made sustainable energy, products and food was admirable, and the tour showed us things beyond our imagination.

The service at Gili Lankanfushi felt unlike anything I’ve experienced. Teams from housekeeping to management seemed to communicate seamlessly, remembering our preferences and anticipating what we needed. Tesla, our Mr. Friday, made our honeymoon unforgettable. Every day he went above and beyond, from decorating the tub as a surprise to setting up our villa so thoughtfully. His warmth, intuition and responsiveness took the stay beyond what we’d imagined. We had a wonderful destination dinner on the beach. Aslam was attentive and kind, making the evening feel magical. Chef Mainuddin’s fresh fruit plates each morning also became something we looked forward to. Gili Lankanfushi feels like more than a resort, with a level of care that almost seems unreal. We’re already dreaming of coming back.

The lagoon was one of the best parts of our stay. We swam there every day with sharks and stingrays, and the calm, clear water felt safe even with our three-year-old. The marine life was so close, in a gentle, protected setting. My husband also went scuba diving, and the dive team were professional, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about their work. Gili Lankanfushi has a peaceful, soulful atmosphere, and the overwater villas give you privacy, stunning ocean views and a real feeling of being immersed in nature. The design is thoughtful, understated and luxurious without being showy. The resort is about 15 minutes from Malé by speedboat, so travelling with a child was smooth and stress-free. We were there over Christmas, and the festive feel was intimate and elegant, while still fitting the island’s quiet mood. There’s no dedicated kids club, though a few thoughtful children’s activities were offered. We’d say the quiet, romantic feel and focus on privacy suit couples and honeymooners best. We had a small issue at the very start, but the team handled it with care and initiative, which quickly put us at ease. Tesla, our Friday, deserves a special mention: he met every request with warmth and efficiency and made everything feel effortless. The food, service and stay were exceptional, and the atmosphere made it easy to disconnect from the world and reconnect with each other. We left grateful and relaxed, already dreaming of returning. Pure magic for couples and honeymooners.

This was our 10th visit to the Maldives, and the kind staff spoiled us at this amazing resort. The splendid villas were well maintained, and we’re grateful for the lovely experience.
