The food alone would bring me back, especially that breakfast. Everyone working there was funny and welcoming, and the place was clean and comfortable. Omadhoo still feels like an authentic local island, with a lovely bikini beach and a house reef where we spotted lots of fish, an octopus, and even a turtle while snorkeling. We also went on trips and dives with the attached Seasoul dive center. Shaggy knows the sites and marine life so well, and made the outings great fun. We saw plenty of mantas and whale sharks, and even got past our fear of sharks while diving. If you scuba dive, I’d suggest Fish Head. It felt like home here, and we’ll definitely be back.

The beach was right outside, and having Kuri Beach View Inn to ourselves was a real treat during our four days over Christmas 2018. Hassan met us at the airport and sorted out the transfer for our arrival that night. Omadhoo is about an hour and a half from the airport. Adhunan and family looked after us at the guesthouse, where the staff were all friendly. Breakfast had a tasty mix of local and Western food. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable, with the basics provided: AC, hot shower, bath and beach towels, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. We enjoyed all the outings Adhunan took us on, including whale shark swimming, dolphin watching, a sandbank, fishing, and snorkeling. The prices were much lower than at hotels, and we had a wonderful stay.

We stayed for three weeks and were especially touched by how welcoming the whole extended family was. Everyone was so kind and easy to get along with, and I still miss them. We had breakfast and also ordered dinners, enjoying the traditional local dishes and fish. There were familiar options too for anyone who doesn’t fancy local food or fish. The beach is only a few steps away, and the big front garden is screened from the surroundings, so it was a nice place to sit in the daytime or evening. Wifi worked seamlessly. Everything we needed was there, and the price was notably lower than at other guesthouses. I’d stayed at another place on the island the year before, so I could compare. I’d happily recommend this one.

Even though it was Ramadan, Thosin was patient with all my questions and requests. Something went wrong during the trip and might have spoiled the mood, but he sorted it out with real kindness. I’d definitely recommend him.
