It was such a clean, peaceful place to unwind, with a lovely view from the balcony and the beach right nearby. I especially loved the beanbags, and the friendly cats were the only little bit of noise. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, making transfers and excursions easy to book. I’d happily come back.

We had some issues with insects everywhere, but I’d still recommend Canopus 100% and would visit again. The food was simply amazing, with tasty vegetarian options, and the staff were among the friendliest I’ve met, especially Mr.Rana, who was courteous and helped us at every step. Mr.Giovanni was also a great help before we arrived. We stayed four nights. The surroundings felt safe, and beach access was easy. Evenings had a lovely atmosphere, with beautiful views of the sky and sea. You can walk to other, less crowded beaches, though you do have to cover up. We didn’t have the best staff experiences in other atolls, but the team here was extremely warm and pleasant.

We were disappointed to wake up to a cancellation email from the hotel. They hadn’t tried to call us. We’d only found out there was a problem when the booking was cancelled. The hotel had messaged us through Booking.com asking for a deposit via an external link sent in the app. I missed the message at first, but when I read it later, it still felt unusual. They already had my card details through the booking, and in all my years using the platform I’ve never been asked to pay a deposit through a separate link. It raised concerns about security and whether the request was legitimate. It’s a shame, because the hotel looked lovely and we’d been excited to stay. Luckily we found another place at short notice, but this left us uneasy. I’d hesitate to book here again if I wanted a straightforward, secure booking process.

The rooms were large and clean, with an amazing view of both surf spots. Food was fresh and good, and you should try the Brownie. The resort crew was friendly and gave great service. We spent five days at Canopus retreat. The hosts, Guiseppe and his wife, welcomed us warmly and took care of everything. Their hospitality was amazing. They also look after a lot of street cats, which shows their humanity.
