We came for four nights and ended up staying nine. It was a perfect place to slow down and recharge. The staff were amazing, and it felt magical to watch the sunset each day and see local life going by. The food was a 10/10. The chefs are amazing, and I had some of the best food of our whole trip in Africa here. The strawberry cheesecake was one of the best I've ever had. Breakfast had great options, and we loved having strong French press coffee each morning. Meals came quickly, never taking more than 30 minutes, and prices felt very fair for the quality, from 15.000mkw to 30.000mkw for a full meal. Our room was comfortable, the pool was cleaned every morning, and the big chill area felt super cozy when it lit up at night. We wish we could've stayed longer and can't wait to come back one day.

The team was superb and the food was delicious. We loved Mgoza's friendly, cozy feel and its spot right by the lake. We'll certainly look forward to coming back.

We fell asleep to the lake lapping just a few meters from our clean, cozy room, and the sunsets were incredible. Sitting by the water with a drink was hard to beat. The restaurant and bar serve tasty local and international food in generous portions. Try the kampango fish, it was the best meal I had on my whole African trip! Mgoza Lodge sits right on beautiful Lake Malawi in Cape Maclear, with a relaxed feel and a nice balance of charm and comfort. Alan, the owner, made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. You can tell he runs the place with real heart and cares about the lake and local community. Mgoza Lodge is a must if you want an authentic, relaxed, beautiful place to stay. I'd love to return someday. Highly recommended!

I planned a five-day trip around this destination after the Lodge accepted my booking. Just a few hours later, they emailed to cancel so they could take a tour group. Don't book here, it could ruin your trip.

The food was overpriced and tasteless, took more than an hour to arrive, and was one of the worst meals I've had in Malawi. On top of that, the owner was incredibly rude and made racist comments to my friends and me. He went out of his way twice to mock and disparage us. I strongly advise people to stay far away. Don't come unless you want to be treated poorly.
