Hotel Acapulco Malibu

I stay with my in-laws in Acapulco, and this has quickly become my go-to for a day out. For around 600 pesos, the public can use the pool, changing rooms and restrooms, with food and drinks brought poolside from the restaurant. The pool is clean and well kept, and the drinks are great. There’s food throughout the day, including snacks, sandwiches, seafood and steak, plus a very good breakfast buffet on certain days. You can also go straight over to Tabasco beach for a swim. The hotel itself is small compared with others nearby and shows the usual wear and tear for this price range. But if you’re not staying at a nicer hotel with these facilities, spending the day here may be one of the best options in Acapulco. Highly recommended by this guide!!

We had a fantastic ocean view from our room, and I liked being able to bring our own beer to the pool to keep costs down. There are also some free beach chairs, so you can switch things up and spend time there instead. The pool is lovely and right on the beach. It’s an older hotel and misses some things you might expect at a beach hotel. Still, it has a bit of a resort feel, even if it’s a poor man’s resort.

We ended up here because our usual hotel was closed, five weeks after Hurricane Otis hit Acapulco. What a find. The rooms are spacious, with balconies that fit four chairs and a small table, and the restaurant serves delicious food.

The staff are all very kind, and the pool was good. The hotel is close to the beach and clean, and could suit someone on a low budget. But it’s old, and the bathrooms need improvement. The shower in both rooms I saw had a step about 45 cm deep to get in, which was difficult for my 94-year-old mother. I first had an accessible room on the S1 level because she uses a stroller to walk, then asked to move to the sixth floor. They told me all the rooms had that type of shower. My first room was near the restaurant, where the morning shift started early, so I woke at 6 am. It faced both the ocean and the restaurant, which meant I couldn’t open the curtains. At 11:40 pm, I heard a huge noise, looked out the window and saw a man walking through a cloud of insecticide with a very noisy machine. I couldn’t believe they used that kind of machine to spread it.
