We’ve stayed in hotels across Mexico, Europe, and the United States, and safety and cleanliness are what matter most to us. El Sendero feels like our casa. Roberto, Christian, and Erwing are always helpful, and Carlos makes you feel welcome. Their cheerful attitudes made us want to share this special find. We celebrated our anniversary there just this past weekend, and my husband said, “This is better than our hotel stay in Paris,France.” The hotel is clean, quaint, friendly, and safe. It’s steps from EL CENTRO, where there’s all kinds of food and drink plus a local farmers market. The view of the church built in the 1500’s is beautiful, especially if you love art, and hearing its bells at night can make you think you’re in a quaint European town. Sendero Hotel is the BEST if you’re ever in Actopan.

The rooms are spacious and well looked after, and the staff are friendly. The restaurant serves local dishes, and I’d definitely try the chilaquiles. There’s a well stocked up bar, too. It’s an easy walk to the historic Church and Convent of San Nicolás de Tolentino and the busy town center. A beautiful, comfortable hotel in the heart of Actopan, and a great way to get a first hand feel for local culture. I highly recommend it.
