Casa Yollotzin

The whole team at Casa Yollotzin made me feel at home, and the restaurant was wonderful. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the location is just right. This was my second stay at what I think is the best hotel in Ajijic. Thank you all so much, I can't wait to come back 😊

We ate at the restaurant several times after the included breakfast convinced us to give it a try. The food and drinks were excellent, especially the duck confit, chilaquiles, and salsas. We also ordered appetizers for the patio, and noticed lots of people who weren't staying at the hotel coming in to eat. We stayed in Ocazo in October 2025. The room was lovely, with a very comfortable bed and a little private patio where we enjoyed French press coffee and cookies baked in-house by the owner's wife. The hotel's design is beautiful, with a fountain in the lobby, a small bar and restaurant, and a lovely courtyard. Staff greeted us warmly whenever we came and went. The location is convenient, a block from Ajijic's main plaza, with shops and restaurants nearby and Lake Chapala about a 10 minute walk away. One thing to know is that the rooms don't have air conditioning. In early fall, ours got a little warm late in the afternoon, but the weather was mild. Fans are provided, and opening the door and window cooled it down quickly. It would probably feel warmer in summer, though a walk in the plaza until sunset or a cool drink might help. We had a great visit and would gladly stay again.

We stayed in the Ocaso room by the garden courtyard for a few weeks. It was surprisingly quiet, even though this family-run hotel is right in the center, just off Plaza Principal. The owners and staff are the best: generous, kind, fun, and hardworking. We felt lucky to be there and hated saying goodbye. We'll be back.

I know the family and have seen the rooms, though I haven't stayed at the hotel. Peaceful spot in Centro, and the connected restaurante has excellent food. A definite yes from me.
