Eduardo and the staff made us feel welcome from the start. He greeted us with a smile, and everyone was friendly and happy to help. We had a fantastic stay at Alma de Zorro, a cozy boutique hotel about a 25-minute walk from town, or a very cheap taxi ride, around 50 to 100 pesos. There’s free coffee, tea, and water in the welcome area. Our clean, comfortable rooms are arranged around a small pool. They’re in the final stages of expanding, with more rooms and a larger pool coming soon. The hotel gave us great food suggestions, especially for breakfast. We had some of our best meals at the recommended places, and also got pizza delivered. The nearby Lagoon Club Carmelitas is about a 10-minute walk away. It has a great pool, lagoon access, kayaking, and delicious food. The all-day deal was good when we visited, though prices could rise later. It made the stay feel perfect. It was easy to get into town, and the hotel is close to the ADO bus station. A real Bacalar gem. Thanks to Eduardo and the team.

The room had stale air and a slight smell, which was the only downside. The staff were very friendly and shared great tips about what to do. We had a great stay at Alma de Zorro, and everything else was very nice :)

This place was okay for the price and location, especially if you’re planning to spend most of your time at the lake or on Bacalar’s many excursions. It was clean, though the amenities were limited.

We spent a lovely couple of days relaxing at Alma de Zorro. Edwardo was welcoming and gave us some great recommendations. Really appreciated the free coffee bar.
